RELEASE NR.01/UNITA/ MEMORANDUM ON NON-COMPLIANCE BY THE MPLA 1975-1998 |
From: Sven Borg Dear Mr. Justino, I have now during a decade been following keenly the peace process in Angola, receiving valuable information mainly from Mr. Luis Antunes. Already at the beginning I felt great disappointment with the way the UN, the Troika, several governments (including that of my own country Sweden), multi-national companies etc. handled this process. This disappointment prevails this day. I am especially disappointed with the fact that there are some representatives of the international community who support a forced solution! On the other hand I can see that there are strong efforts being carried out by independent organizations in defence of a fair and negotiated solution. I highly appreciate these efforts! I have tried to put the light on the Angolan conflict here in Sweden, but up to now the response has been rather poor. But: "gutta cavat lapidem - ..." Kind regards, Sven E. Borg P.S. I was working in Mozambique 1989-1991, i.e. during the final phase of the civil war. They managed to reach a negotiated solution! Although FRELIMO was in power, I heard people in the street talking about RENAMO as "the other government"! |
